"Quickies - Vol. 71"

The 911 Commission Report . . .

Recommendation: "The US government must define what the message is, what it stands for. We should offer an example of moral leadership in the world, committed to treat people humanely, abide by the rule of law, and be generous and caring to our neighbors."

Rev. Al Sharpton . . .

"The issue of government is not to determine who may sleep together in the bedroom, it's to help those that might not be eating in the kitchen." [:-)

Ohio congressman Dennis Kucinich . . .

"The true weapons of mass destruction are poverty, joblessness and racism at home."

The right to speak my mind out . . .

75% of New Yorkers say the Peace & Justice protesters should be allowed to use Central Park. Hmmm? Is Mayor Bloomberg a Republican? Does Linda Ronstadt like Moore's, "Fahrenheit 911"? Does Ken Jennings like Jeopardy?

Yes, Virginia, it's true . . .

We have honeydews & honeydon'ts. [:-)

Mahatma Gandhi . . .

"When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of Truth and Love has always won. There have been tyrants and murderers and for a time they can seem invincible, but in the end they always fall. Think of it, always."

"Sleepwalking Through History" . . .

By Haynes Johnson: "America needs nothing more than to be true to itself, to it's ideals and to its values, and to work to create a more just, humane society at home and join others in working toward a freer, more open world."

Hmmm? Didn't the 911 commission come to the same conclusion? "Sleepwalking Through History" was written in 1993.

UN Secretary General Kofi Annan . . .

"No, I cannot say the world is safer today than it was two, three years ago." Hmm? Anyone tell Top Gun?

Top Gun . . .

"If this were a dictatorship, it'd be a heck of a lot easier, just as long as I'm the dictator."
Newsday, December 18, 2000.[:-)

This just in . . .

US House Government Reform Committee;

Halliburton's oil deliveries cost American taxpayers an EXTRA $166.5 million. Does this news annoy me? Does Lance Armstrong know how to win the Tour de France?

Credentials . . .

The women on this morning's exercise program are certified exhibitionists. {:-)

What's wrong with this picture . . .

Campaign money, Bush- $216 million, Kerry- $180 million? As long as corporate America writes the checks, we the people are in deep s * * t!!

O'Reilly is facts - challenged . . .

The problem with columnist Bill O'Reilley is that the ends justify the means. He knows his statements and books are not based on facts, but he continues to say they are. Even in O'Reilley's world, where truth doesn't exist, there should be some kind of ethical standard, but there isn't. And the fact that Fox News and other powerful Republicans accept that situation is more troubling than anything O'Reilley could ever say. [:-)
Does anyone know if O'Reilly would be willing to send his kids to Iraq?

NY Times OP-ED writer Paul Krugman . . .

"The failure of TV news to inform the public about the policy proposals of this year's presidential candidates is, in its own way, as serious a journalistic betrayal as the failure to raise questions about the rush to invade Iraq."

Abraham Lincoln . . .

"The struggle of today is not altogether for today; it is for a vast future also." All our bright tomorrows depend on our actions today.

True romance . . .

I met her in the B&N Cafe
And knew love was only
A scone throw away. {:-o)
