Virginia was the source of 372 guns used to commit crimes in NYCity last year, according to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Weapons from Georgia, Ohio and South Carolina were linked to hundreds of crimes in 2008.

NY has set new records for the number of homeless people and families sleeping in shelters. The Dept. of Homeless Services counted 39, 243 people sleeping in shelters at the end of September, up 11% from a year earlier - including 10,494 homeless families. [:-[
